Baby Bugatti T52
At the 1927 Milan Automobile Show, Bugatti showed the
attractive miniature children’s Grand Prix Bugatti which was
originally built for Roland, the second son of Ettore
Bugatti.
The correct factory reference for the Baby Bugatti is Type
52 and is made for children of five to eight years of age.
The “Baby”, about half of its full size parent, has a wheel
base of 1.3M, the bonnet and spare tyre having leather strips
to hold them in position. The seat is also made from leather.
The original Baby Bugattis were much sought after and are
today a collector’s item. Now available the handcrafted
aluminium reproductions to scale by Pur Sang Argentina, these
too will become a collector’s piece in time to come.
